The GIANTS have signed 21 of the best next-tier talent from Sydney and Canberra to play alongside our AFL listed players in the 2022 Victorian Football League (VFL).
For the second consecutive year the club has used the competition to seek out talented players from across club’s Academy as well as AFL Sydney and AFL Canberra competitions.
The AFL has released the 2022 VFL Round One fixture and match ups for the full season, with the competition to commence on Friday, March 25.
The largest second-tier football competition in the country returns after two COVID-disrupted seasons and for the second-year running will feature teams from Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland.
21 teams will play 18 games each in a 22-round home-and-away season. A final eight will contest a four-week finals series, culminating in the 2022 VFL Grand Final on the weekend of September 17/18.
Damian Truslove will head up the club’s VFL program as head coach in 2022, also working as a development coach across the AFL program following the departure of former coach Luke Kelly to Port Adelaide.
Truslove was part of the men’s program from 2016 to 2019 and returned to the GIANTS recently, working in the AFLW program as the senior assistant coach before moving into the AFL program.
