Blacktown International Sportspark played host to the second round of the AFLW Summer Series on Sunday.

It was an all-GIANTS match-up with both GIANTS Orange and GIANTS Charcoal going head-to-head.

Both teams entered the match undefeated after impressive wins against the two Swans sides in the opening round of the series on Saturday, February 13.

GIANTS Orange continued their hot form, with a convincing 82-point-win over GIANTS Charcoal.

GIANTS Orange scored 13.17 with Savali Tapugao kicking three goals.

While no AFLW GIANTS players were in action this week given their upcoming game-load, stand out performers were Eilish Sheerin – for the second week in a row – as well as Jasmine Smith and former GIANT Sarah Halvorsen.

GIANTS Head of Academies Jason Saddington said it was a closer game than the scoreboard indicated.

“It was highly competitive game around the contest,” he said.

“There were some great pressure moments and big tackles, which is what we like to see.

“GIANTS Orange were impressive in spreading the opposition with terrific ball movement, utilising changes in angles and quick switches of play.”

The series has a break this weekend before one more round of regular matches and then a finals round on Sunday, March 13.

“The Summer Series continues to be a crucial platform for the ongoing development and exposure of players to the highest level of football in the state,” said Saddington.

“The experience for both young Academy players, more experienced community league players and the unselected AFLW players is invaluable in continuing to grow and develop the talent pathway for female athletes in NSW and ACT.”

All games are live streamed via the AFL NSW/ACT Facebook page.
