At the conclusion of the first day of the AFL Trade Period, the Greater Western Sydney GIANTS have indicated they are likely to retain the number one selection in next month's NAB AFL Draft.

"It is apparent that no club is prepared to offer a suitable trade for the number one pick. That being the case we will almost certainly exercise this selection in the draft," GIANTS List Manager Stephen Silvagni said.

"We will continue to be aggressive in pursuing experienced players during the trade period but we have also said we are not going to trade the number one selection unless we received a very good offer.

"At this stage speculation about Taylor Adams is just that. He is a quality player and a quality person and a listed GIANTS player until we decide otherwise."
