Utility Lachie Keeffe will remain a GIANT until at least the end of the 2021 season after signing a two-year contract extension.

The 204cm GIANT, who has played forward, back and in the ruck during 2019, has played 16 games for the club since joining as a Delisted Free Agent in 2017.

Keeffe has shown his versatility playing as a shut-down defender in wins over his former club Collingwood and Port Adelaide, and has showed his ability to hit the scoreboard when swung forward kicking three goals in the GIANTS’ win over Essendon in round one and two goals in Sunday’s game against the Bulldogs.

Originally from Gympie in Queensland, the 29-year old played 40 games at Collingwood before moving to the GIANTS.

“I’ve loved my time at the GIANTS so far and I’m really excited to continue at the club for at least another two years,” Keeffe said.

“The club gave me a second chance and I’m looking to repay that faith that they’ve shown in me.

“I really enjoy living in Sydney and I’ve made some great friendships here at the GIANTS.”

GIANTS List Manager Jason McCartney said that Keeffe’s versatility makes him an important re-signing.

“Lachie’s shown over the course of his two seasons at the GIANTS that he can play pretty much anywhere, which is a great asset,” he said.

“He’s become a real leader to our young players both on and off the field and acts as on-field coach when required to those still finding their way.

“He’s a popular member of our group and we’re delighted that he’ll continue in orange for a at least a couple more years.”

Keeffe is the latest GIANT to commit to the club this following the important signatures of Josh Kelly, Nick Haynes, Jacob Hopper and many more earlier in the year.
