The GIANTS can confirm that Nick Shipley and Tom Hutchesson will not be offered contracts for 2022.
Shipley, 22, was the club’s first-ever Academy graduate from Western Sydney, joining the GIANTS list via pick 64 in the 2016 national draft.
Hailing from Campbelltown, Shipley made his AFL debut in 2018 and played six senior games, including four this season.
Hutchesson joined the GIANTS as a mature-age draftee at the age of 24 with pick 65 in the 2019 Draft.
From Millicent in South Australia, Hutchesson played one game in his debut season in 2020 before hamstring injuries affected his 2021 season.
GIANTS General Manager of Football Jason McCartney thanked the pair.
“Nick is a great example of someone who tried Australian football purely as a result of the existence of the GIANTS’ Academy in Western Sydney,” McCartney said.
“He should be really proud of being the first AFL player to come out of the GIANTS’ Western Sydney Academy and what he’s achieved over the past five seasons.
“Tom hasn’t had much luck with injuries across his two years with the club but his work ethic and the energy he brought to the group was a great asset.
“We wish both Nick and Tom well in their future endeavours.”
