In this subject students will explore the value of numerical data as a tool to help business leaders make informed decisions.

Introduction to the Australian Legal System

This subject is designed to develop an understanding of the Australian legal system, contextualised to the world of sport, and will introduce students to the commercial framework various sporting organisations operate within.

Introduction to Academic Communication 2

The subject will assist students to critically read and analyse a variety of texts, and to develop their research and writing skills to produce complex texts.

Second Term of Study

Enterprise Leadership

Enterprise Leadership begins the development of the understanding of the role and function of sport management and enterprise leadership concepts.

Financing Enterprises

This subject focuses on the different types of enterprises available to start a business, financial statements issued by enterprises, key sources of finance available to small and large businesses, and how the surrounding financial and macroeconomic environments affect an enterprises performance.

The World of Sport Business provides students with an entry to sport and its professional organisation and management. Sport organisations are uniquely situated within fluid and emergent social, cultural, and political environments and necessitate unique/different managerial approaches which students begin to critically explore.

Accounting in Context

This subject provides an overarching context about the purpose and usefulness of accounting information and explain a range of definitions and terms used in accounting and business.

Marketing Principles

Marketing Principles is an introductory marketing subject that delivers an overview of the marketing process and how it works within the field of business.

Organisational Behaviour

Organisational Behaviour examines individual, group and organisational behaviours and the influence these have on each other.

Consumers, Firms and Markets

This subject is an introduction to microeconomics, providing students with a basic understanding of a range of economic concepts.

Third Term of Study

Enterprise Law

This is an introductory law subject designed to introduce the fundamentals of law in a commercial context. Students will be introduced to the basic principles of law and the legal system as well as examining some of the major areas of law that impact on a sporting context. 

Statistics for Business

Statistics for Business introduces the basic concepts and techniques of statistics that are particularly relevant to problem solving in business.

Sport for Social Development

This subject introduces the concept of Sport for Development. Students will explore the role sports and physical recreation can play in achieving positive social outcomes in communities, both locally and internationally. 

Fundamentals of Marketing Analytics

The subject introduces students to the core concepts associated with business analytics through a sport management lens, and marketing analytics specific to sport. It aims to provide students with foundational knowledge of a range of sport marketing problems for which business analytics can facilitate solutions.

Financial Accounting Applications

This subject gives students the practical skills necessary to analyse the accounting transactions of an entity, and then be able to measure and record these transactions in a systematic manner

Financial Institutions and Markets

Using the Australian financial system as an illustration, Financial Institutions and Markets introduces students to the theory and functions of financial institutions and markets.

Managing People at Work

Managing People at Work provides an introductory framework for the study of employment relations.
