A superstar of the competition and the captain of the club, Greene is an inaugural GIANT after having been selected with pick 11 in the 2011 AFL Draft. One of the AFL’s most dynamic and captivating players, Greene has built a reputation over the last decade as one of the most lethal forwards in the competition. Possessing an innate goal sense and an uncanny ability to create something out of nothing, Greene is a big game player who loves to stand up in the big moments and lead the way for his side. After co-captaining the team with Stephen Coniglio and Josh Kelly in 2022, Greene was appointed as the sole captain by coach Adam Kingsley ahead of the 2023 season. Already a two-time All-Australian and a GIANTS club champion at that stage, the extra responsibility only further enhanced Greene’s on-field performance as he put forward his best season yet in 2023, kicking a career-best 66 goals and leading the GIANTS to a preliminary final. His exceptional 2023 season earned him the All-Australian captaincy for the first time, marking his third blazer, as well as the 2023 Kevin Sheedy Medal, adding to his 2016 club champion award. While unable to match his lofty feats of 2023, Greene added 44 more majors to his career tally in 2024 to remain one of the league’s most dangerous mid-sized forwards.
