Born in England but playing all his junior football in Geelong, the GIANTS traded up in the 2018 AFL Draft to secure Idun with pick 61. He has since cemented himself as a vital piece of the GIANTS’ side and one of the competition’s most reliable and dynamic defenders. An extremely powerful athlete, Idun took his game to a new level in 2021 where he played 21 out of a possible 22 games to establish himself as a young star of the competition. Idun has since continued to be one of the GIANTS’ most consistent performers and in 2023 was the joint winner of the club’s Best Finals Player following a brilliant September. Playing in all 25 games, the 191cm defender consolidated himself as one of the competition’s elite one-on-one and intercept defenders in a brilliant 2024 season which saw him finish fourth in the Kevin Sheedy Medal. Voted into the club’s leadership group for a third straight year ahead of the 2025 season, Idun showed his commitment to the club with a six-year contract extension to remain with the GIANTS until at least the end of the 2032 season.
