Rebecca Beeson begins an exciting new chapter for the GIANTS in 2024 after being named the club’s new captain after long-time skipper Alicia Eva stepped down from the role at the end of last season. A Sydney local and inaugural GIANT in her ninth season at the club, Beeson is just the third captain in the club’s AFLW history, following Eva and inaugural captain Amanda Farrugia. Establishing herself as one of the club’s brightest young stars since being taken with pick 32 in the inaugural draft in 2016, Beeson claimed the 2019 Gabrielle Trainor Medal as club champion and has continued to be one of the GIANTS’ key players ever since. A mainstay in the GIANTS’ line-up since joining the club, Beeson’s rise to captaincy is a remarkable story of perseverance after the tough and classy midfielder was forced to miss the entirety of season seven due to concussion issues before returning with a bang in 2023. Hailing from the UNSW-ES Bulldogs in Sydney, Beeson finished equal-third in the 2023 Gabrielle Trainor Medal in a fantastic return to the field.
