Joining the GIANTS in the summer following 11 seasons with Essendon, Laverde was originally drafted by the Bombers with pick 20 in the 2014 Draft after a strong season in the TAC Cup for the Western Jets. A dependable contributor as a key defender, Laverde made his AFL debut in round 15, 2015 and went on to play 145 games in red and black. Laverde won the Bomber’s Most Improved Player Award in 2021 and the Adam Ramanauskas Most Courageous Player Award in 2022. Known for his competitiveness and ability to lock down dangerous forwards, Laverde will add depth and experience to an already formidable GIANTS backline in 2026.
