The GIANTS have made one change to their side to face the Tigers in Canberra on Saturday afternoon with a veteran returning from injury.
Midfielder Ryan Griffen comes back into the GIANTS line up this week after missing the past three matches with a hamstring strain.
“We need to get some consistency with him, when he was out there he was playing some good footy but he had a back injury, came back and then had a hamstring so hopefully he can get going again,” coach Leon Cameron said.
“He’s a really important part of our midfield and provides an enormous amount of pressure. He’s a big inside mid which we like to have in there so he’s really eager and keen to get back and play some good footy.”
He comes in for defender Adam Kennedy who is the unlucky one to have been omitted after the GIANTS’ 19-point win over the Power last weekend.
Ruckman Shane Mumford has been named to play after injuring his knee late in the win over the Power.
Leon Cameron has been confident all week that he would be fit to take on the Tigers on Saturday.
"He's got some old knees, let's be honest. Being in the ruck for the last 10-12 years, they've been beaten around a little bit,” Cameron said yesterday.
"There's no doubt there's going to be some issues in the back end of his career, but by all reports he's going to be right."
Richmond will travel to the nation’s capital for the first time, a venue where the GIANTS have won four of their last five matches.
“We’ve beaten Geelong and Port Adelaide earlier this year; it’s a fanatic ground, it’s a big ground, it’s great to play on,” Cameron said.
“It will be a good atmosphere, they’re probably expecting 14-15,000 there again which will go close to a sell out.
“We know that they’re going to be really, really hard to beat. It was only a couple of weeks ago they played one of the matches of the round against the Bulldogs and it could have gone either way.
“At their very best they can beat everyone so we have to make sure we being what we brought last week against Port Adelaide for longer.”
The GIANTS take on Richmond on Saturday at 1:45pm in their final premiership season clash for 2016 at Manuka Oval in Canberra.
