Fans heading to Spotless Stadium at Sydney Olympic Park for the GIANTS versus Richmond Tigers clash this Saturday are advised to plan their trip in advance with trackwork affecting numerous train lines.

Gates at the stadium open at 12.30pm before the main match begins at 1:40pm, with an expected finish time of 4:10pm.

“If you’re heading to the match be aware that due to trackwork buses are replacing trains on a number of lines around the train network,” a spokesperson for the Transport Management Centre said.

“Although trains are running between Lidcombe and Olympic Park stations on the T7 Olympic Park Line, trains that normally stop at Lidcombe on the T1 Western Line, the T2 Inner West & South Line, the T3 Bankstown Line and the Blue Mountains Line are replaced by buses due to trackwork.”

“To help get people to Olympic Park there are direct buses running from North Strathfield, Parramatta, Merrylands and Bankstown stations from midday and return services will run from 4pm.”

Buses are replacing trains between Parramatta and Strathfield on the T1 Western Line; between Homebush and Strathfield and between Merrylands and Strathfield via Granville on the T2 Inner West & South Line; between Bankstown and Lidcombe on the T3 Bankstown Line; between Blacktown and Central on the Blue Mountains Line; and all services on the T6 Carlingford Line.

“If you intend to catch the train, make sure you plan your trip and give yourself plenty of additional travel time,” the spokesperson said.

“If you decide to drive to Olympic Park instead of catching public transport, also make sure you allow plenty of extra travel time and expect delays on roads surrounding the precinct,” said the spokesperson.

Some local roads may close around Spotless Stadium to allow access for buses and to ensure pedestrian safety in the area.
