Students at Dartmoor Primary School in country Victoria are getting behind Jeremy Cameron's bid for the Coleman Medal.
The 19 students at Cameron's old school have erected a sign at the front of the schoolyard keeping tally of the number of goals he has kicked this season.
Leading into the final match against the Gold Coast Suns, Cameron has 60 goals to sit third on the Coleman medal tally.
The students adjust the figure on a weekly basis to keep the small town up to date with how the local boy is performing in just his second season in the AFL.
Principal Hayden Milich says the tally board is a great way for the kids to connect with a former student excelling on the national stage.
“The kids worked hard to make this happen and it’s had a real impact on the town with a lot of people stopping by to check it out and even take photos,” said Milich.
“The students love following the GIANTS, and particularly Jeremy Cameron with him being in such good touch this season.
“It sets a great example for the students that anything is possible he’s a real inspiration to the whole school."
With the season coming to a close for the GIANTS, Dartmoor Primary School is hoping for a visit from their hero over the coming months.
“Jeremy’s younger cousin Justin still attends school here and he gets around in all his GIANTS gear so hopefully Jeremy can drop by and say g’day to the kids when he’s in town next.
The GIANTS play the Gold Coast Suns this Sunday at Metricon Stadium. GIANTS fans can watch the match on Fox Footy, or on 7mate in NSW and the ACT.
